I'm sitting here in a Toronto room trying not to feel queasy. I'm not hung over; its food poisoning- a really bad case of it too. But I digress...

Our trip to Montreal was really fun and filled with shopping. (I should have expected it as our trip was 5 girls), We got into the city at 7pm on Friday and took the subway down to St Denis. We had an Italian meal and I got to practice my french- I guess i had forgotten that East of St Denis has mostly a francophone population. They were a little bit snobby too- I asked the waiter in my best french whether the clubs on St Denis were any good, and with a little sniff he looked me over and said "anglophone? You probably wouldn't like them. Head to Crescent street instead." So we did.

We ended up in a cheesy pub filled with guys- don't girls like to go out in Montreal? Consequently we were hit on a lot, which was pretty good for the egos of all of us. Saturday during the day we headed down to Old Montreal and walked around for a bit, and then headed down through Chinatown onto St Catherines and the fancy shopping. Much money was spent. (Although not by me.) At night Lara's friend Mike- who is studying law at McGill- took us out to a club called Tokyo on St Laurent. It was CRAZY busy, and not really my scene, but the other girls loved it (especially Deb, who has found her Mecca.) I couldn't handle the crowds- its good when clubs are busy but not "can't turn around someone's ass is in my face" busy. I think I whined a lot that night.

Sunday we spent doing MORE shopping in the little boutiques with Lara's cousin, who is 17 and has more style than I could ever hope for. For dinner, Lara's aunt and uncle, who are swanky lawyers that live in Westmount, took us to a famous and ritzy steak house called Moishas, where we ate 50$ steaks and I imagined I was rich and famous. Then we headed out to a jazz club for the night and had cosmos. It was very sex-and-the-city.

Monday was MORE shopping with a stop for me at Holt Renfrew to gasp at the high end fashion, and I took a walk through McGill campus. At night we headed out to a pub and had beers and pizza which was a more casual night than we were used to having.

Tuesday we headed down St Denis- walking all the way up and down St Laurent- and then went home to pack. This night was the most fun of the trip= we headed out to a dingy bar and played pool and fussball, and then out to Gogo;s a swanky club, where everybody bought us drinks and we made friends with the entire place. Then we went for late night poutine.

On wednesday I and we headed back to his place in Little Italy, where we dropped my bags and had a quick dinner at a bistro. This turned out to be a mistake. Then we headed out to Church street, the gay neighborhood, and went to the Gayest bar EVER. It was like an episode of Queer as Folk, complete with Drag Queens and men in leather chaps. Partway through the night I started to feel sick and ended up with the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had. (Just for all of you skeptics, I only had 2 beer.) All throughout the night i was running to the bathroom to throw up and i felt so bad- I hate messing up other people's bathrooms.

Today Trevor left for Winnipeg but he was nice enough to let me stay in his place. I made an attempt to head out this morning and see the town, but i was falling-over tired and weak- so then I went back to his place and slept for several hours. I feel a lot better now, but I'm a little upset- what a stupid way to spend my last couple nights of vacation!

The ticket is paid for and everything- I'm officially going to India. I can't believe this yet- maybe I'll be able to think more clearly about this when the date gets closer. In related travelling news, I'm going to Montreal and Toronto next week with some girls from school. It should be good times.

I booked my ticket to India today. I'm flying out on June 6th, getting into Dehli on June 7th- flying back out on the 21st of August. We're going to spend the first month in Bangalore working on a medical project, and then we're flying to Thailand and are going to hang out on the beaches.
